We are currently parked near Bandera, TX, also known as the Cowboy Capital of the World. We visited the Flying L Guest Ranch for the day which was loads of fun. This is a ranch that has beautiful accomodations for guests to stay overnight, but no RV sites unfortunately. For any of our RV’ing friends, if you’re ever in the area we would highly recommend visiting for the day. They have a variety of activities to do like golf, horse-back riding, mini golf, a playground and our favorite — a water park. We spent most of the day at the Lone Star Lagoon water park which had a few small water slides and a splash park:
Traveling around Texas
We are spending several weeks in Texas, and so far we are having a great time! Our first stop was Thousand Trails Lake Conroe which is north of Houston. My very dear friend Judy who I knew when I lived in Charlotte, NC now lives in The Woodlands, TX which is just about 20 minutes from the campground. We got to spent a lot of time with her and her little girl Kylie. Jake and Jesse used to love when Judy and Kylie would visit us in Florida, but since they moved to Texas 3 years ago we haven’t seen them. So it was really fun to get to spend some time catching up with them. They stayed with us for Easter weekend in Lake Conroe. The campground had visits with the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt on Saturday that was really fun for the kids:
Poche’s Fish-n-Camp and Crawfish
We enjoyed a short, 3 day stay at Poche’s Fish-n-Camp RV Park in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. This place was so peaceful and beautiful, I wish we could have stayed longer. It was a great place to relax and unwind after a few busy weeks. We enjoyed some fishing:
Buccaneer State Park, Mississippi
We just spent a week in Mississippi at Buccaneer State Park. This was not one of our most favorite weeks since being on the road, but we can’t complain. The park is very nice, but this is probably not the best time of year to come.

Geese, Roosters and Patriotic Yogi Bear
We just spent a week at Jellystone Park of the Alabama Gulf Coast. It was fantastic! It was the first place we have been to where we were in a more woodsy type place. It was very peaceful, well, except for the noise of the geese and the peacocks and the roosters and — oh well, never mind, I guess it wasn’t all that peaceful, but it sure was fun!

Destin, Florida
One place I have always wanted to visit was Destin. I have heard how beautiful it is, and I was definitely not disappointed. I love the Gulf Coast because I love to watch the sunset over the water and I love the soft, white sand. We stayed at a really nice resort called Destin West RV Resort.

Suwannee River Rendezvous
We just spent 2 weeks in Mayo, FL at the Suwannee River Rendezvous RV Resort. This was quite a change of pace for us since we hit the road. The first several weeks of our travels were so busy between moving, going to the rally, and spending time in Orlando with new friends. Although we have missed all of our new traveling friends, the past 2 weeks have been a good time to get caught up on school and work, and try to get settled into a new routine.

Making New Friends
Since my last post we went to a Fulltime Families rally at Lazy Days in Tampa, FL. That was so much fun! We got to meet lots of families that are living in their RVs and traveling just like we are doing now. Everyone was so nice and welcoming to us newbies. It was so nice to learn from all of the people that have already been doing this for awhile. And the kids really enjoyed meeting other kids to play with.
A Tour of our RV
Many people have asked me to post some pictures of our new home, so here you go. The first one of course is us in front of the new rig and truck:
Moving into the RV
It has been just over a week now that we have been officially living in the RV. The last few weeks have been a blur. Downsizing from approximately 2000 square feet to approximately 400 square feet is certainly not an easy task! We have spent the past few weeks getting rid of everything we own except for what will fit in our new tiny home.
